Economic Update
The global recovery is starting to stumble as unemployment in the US remains high and consumers struggle to pay off debt. However, there is some support for the US housing market which should prevent the economy slipping back into a recession.
Locally, the SA Reserve Bank's decision not to change lending rates in July was hotly debated, although Governor Gill Marcus made it clear that future rate cuts are still possible if the South African economy shows signs of weakness.

This is the month that we celebrate the achievements of women in our society. As our consumer economist Tendani Mantshimuli points out, our Reserve Bank is now run by a woman and one of the three deputy governors is also a woman. Education among women is growing at a faster pace than men and more women are entering the work place.
